AFN Wiesbaden covered that Dusty got honored for his fight against suicide, for being an example of talking about suicide and the importance of suicide prevention. Apart from what we do and achieve with our CJR tourney by raising money, Dustys unique way of helping is talking to people. By sharing his story, his own battle: people – men and women – open up to him and share their distress, their pain, their battle. He encourages them to talk to people close to them, to let those who care about them, help them. He gives speeches and I know he really reaches people.
A year ago, an article was posted where Dusty said that talking feels like Ciarra is helping people through him:
“It still hurts,” […] “And talking to people is sometimes hard. But I think she’s still helping, through me, and that’s why I do what I do. I wish more people talked about it.”
