USA Network To Air Series Finale Of Rumsfeld

LOS ANGELES, CA - The USA cable television network has announced that the current season of the widely popular primetime sitcom, Rumsfeld, will be its last. The show, which has entertained, enlightened, and at times bewildered viewers for years, will come to an end this summer.

The announcement has caused much controversy among the public and thetabloids. Rumors of creative disputes among the cast, budgets, salaries, and the cast’s repeated criticism of the writing team have been dogging USA for weeks, according to a network representative. It has also been confirmed that it was the star and co-creator of the show, Donald Rumsfeld, who made the final decision to pull the plug.

“I wouldn’t go so far as to say that there were irreconcilable differences,” he toldreporters. “There were differences. And there was hope for reconciliation. Perhaps reconciliation could have been achieved had there not been so many differences, but that is the nature of reconciliation. But of course that should be obvious to you people. I just hope our fans are not too disappointed. We had a good run. It just got to the point that I had to say, ‘O.K. I don’t think we can do much else with this,’ and move on”

Rumsfeld Warns, "Watch My Finale Or Die!"

The USA offices were flooded with mail from upset fans from across the nation. “This is terrible!” one wrote. “How will my evenings be without the zany antics of George, Condi, Dick, and Rummy?” “Will there be re-runs of the show?” wrote another. “That episode where Dubya keeps yelling ‘these pretzels are making me thirsty’ tears me up!”

Although USA doesn’t plan on airing re-runs of the show, FX is rumored to be picking it up this fall. Until then, loyal fans who have been tuning in to the, as Rumsfeld warmly calls it, “show about a war about nothing,” will have to settle for the First Season DVD, due out in June.

Despite the ending of Rumsfeld, there has been talk of a new show, or possibly a spin-off in the near future. Questions about the nature of the show were met with vague answers, however. “There will be another show,” Rumsfeld told reporters outside of his studio lot trailer. “I don’t know when it will happen, and I don’t know where, but there will be another show. A big one.”

The two-hour series finale of Rumsfeld will air on May 24 at 9:00pm, on the USA channel.
